Because what are the odds of him being posted to TK again, what more teaching our class again?
It was Mr Ernest's last day today, and i was being so emotional about it the whole day. I cried during lit, during the last ten minutes when we were given time with Mr Ernest. I've always though of him as a sentimental guy, and i guess he really is. I've known that if he did something personal for us, i would cry for sure.
Well then, Mr Ernest wrote us handwritten letters. the last time Eric did that, i bawled my eyes out. This time, it wasn't so bad, but while we were taking photos my lips were quivering and i was honestly trying really hard not to cry.
Mr Ernest, is honestly an amazing teacher, and i believe that he will get better with experience. whoever gets him as a teacher in the future is really damn lucky because he's just that great. he's really inspiring, and i've actually learnt more than i expected to learn during the few lessons he took us for. Not only does he teach you exam skills, he tends to touch on life lessons as well, and he does it in many different ways. Doing a debate for LOTF was indeed innovative, and i especially loved it. No one would have expected that one of his objectives of his lesson was to 'bring out the beasts' in us, and he's met it, with us being oblivious to his intentions.
It doesn't matter if other teachers ask him to lower down his volume, or say that he can't handle a class (but i got offended at that). Mr Ernest needs to continue spreading his passion for literature, He's someone who can be trusted to keep the flame for literature burning. Mr Ernest is a pretty good stand-in for Mrs Chow. They're similar in many ways, and i must say that Mr Ernest may have been God-sent to rescue us from our despair after Mrs Chow left.
For an NIE teacher who can make a class, which is infamous for not handing in homework, feel inclined to hand in his homework, Mr Ernest is really something. For someone who gladly takes on the responsibility of teaching us english and LOTF when Mrs Loe was away on course even though he isn't obligated to teach them, Mr Ernest has my respect. For planning amazing lessons on topics/subjects he even supposed to teach, or claims he doesn't know how to teach, Mr Ernest has my admiration.
Still feeling despondent over his departure and I actually collapsed to the floor after he left because I really don't wanna let him go. I can't really imagine not having him walk into class the next lesson :-( my withdrawals sigh. I guess he's the type of person who's sent into your life to teach you a lesson, just to leave not long after :-(
God bless you, Mr Ernest, and all the best for your future. May you enjoy success in your career and may your passion for Literature never die.
"Soar, strive, succeed!"-Mr Ernest '13
Thank you, Mr Ernest. This is for you.
(no photos because apparently they aren't allowed to appear online)
Then there are the other NIE teachers whom I never got to say goodbye to. I say 'hi' to them during recess, but there was never a 'bye'. What type of resolution is that? A very sad one, clearly. Those teachers who were attached to LDS/PB, i never really got to find out their names. But they were so easy-going and so easy to get along with. I'm going to miss this whole NIE clique so much. Honestly, their departure leaves you with an overwhelming sense of emptiness and despondency. Looking for the NIE clique during recess/lunch has already become a habit, and now that they're no longer going to be there...... Where else can you find teachers who treat you like a friend? I don't even know how it'll be when it's time for Fu Lao Shi/Ms Kwan to leave. I'm going to miss them very much, for sure. Maybe i need to stop getting attached to people because when they leave I'm just left to drown in my sentiments.
